The Nerman is the largest contemporary art museum in the four-state region and one of the premier contemporary art museums in America. This breathtaking gallery space, a Johnson County gem, was designed by world-renowned architect Kyu Sung Woo and it houses four changing exhibition galleries, three permanent collection galleries, classroom space and a cafe.

We’ll start in Cafe Tempo with hors d’oeuvres and adult beverages. We’ll move to the Hudson Auditorium for a brief overview of the Museum and presentation by Karen C. Gerety Folk, Curator of Education, and then break into smaller docent lead tours of the galleries both permanent and changing.

The Kansas Focus Gallery is currently featuring large scale photographs by Kansas native, Lori Nix. Works by Nix, now based in New York, are exhibited internationally and this is her first exhibition in Kansas City. Another exhibition currently showing is Convene which focuses on four artists, not traditionally trained in ceramics, but who incorporate clay into their respective practices. Convene was organized in conjunction with Makers, Mentors and Milestones, the 50th Anniversary Conference of the National Council on Education for Ceramic Arts that was held in Kansas City in March of 2016.

After our tours we’ll gather in Cafe Tempo for dessert and refreshments.

We hope you can join us!
